Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to all work by New Wave Services (ABN 91 353 014 298), owned by Luke Melville, sole trader, Queensland electrical contractor licence 93003. By accepting a quote or booking a job, you agree to them. If your written quote or contract says otherwise, that applies.
Quotes
Quotes are valid for 30 days and include GST unless stated otherwise. They're based on the information and access available at the time. If we find something different on site, we'll talk to you before going further.
Variations and extra work
If extra work is needed or you ask for changes, we'll explain the cost and, where practical, get your OK first. If something is dangerous and can't wait, we'll make it safe and contact you as soon as we can.
Payment
• Invoices (sent through ServiceM8) are due within 7 days unless your quote says otherwise.
For larger jobs, we may ask for a deposit before we order materials. Any deposit will be within the limits set by Queensland law.
• Materials and equipment we supply stay our property until they're paid for in full. If an invoice stays unpaid, after giving you written notice we may arrange to collect uninstalled materials, or remove supplied equipment where that's safe and lawful.
• If an invoice is still unpaid 14 days after the due date, we may charge reasonable interest, pass on reasonable recovery costs, and pause further work.
Callout and after-hours fees
Callout fees and hourly rates depend on the time of day and the type of job. After-hours, weekend, public holiday and emergency work costs more than standard weekday rates, and travel charges may apply outside our usual service area. We'll tell you the fees when you book, before any work starts.
Insurance and make-safe work
• For storm, flood, fire or other damage, our first job is to make the site safe. That can mean isolating or disconnecting damaged circuits or equipment. Make-safe work is temporary and isn't a full repair.
• We'll give you or your insurer a report and photos for the claim. Repair or reinstatement work goes ahead once it's approved by you, your insurer or the builder managing the claim.
• Insurers decide what they cover. Any excess, and any work your insurer doesn't approve, is payable by you unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
24/7 emergency callouts
• For urgent faults like loss of power, sparking, burning smells or a safety switch that won't reset, call 0426 149 419 any time. If anyone is in danger or there's a fire, call 000 first. For fallen powerlines, call Energex on 13 19 62 and stay at least 8 metres away.
• We aim to get to you as soon as we can, but arrival times depend on location, weather and other emergencies, so we can't guarantee them.
• On an emergency callout we make the situation safe first. Any further repair is quoted or agreed with you before we do it. Emergency callout fees are confirmed when you call.
Access and site conditions
Please give us safe, clear access to the work area, switchboard and roof space, and tell us about any hazards or known asbestos. Tenants and strata owners need to get any landlord or body corporate approval.
Existing faults and non-compliant work
We're responsible for our work, not for faults or non-compliant work already there. If we find something unsafe or not to standard, we'll tell you and can quote to fix it. Safety laws may require us to disconnect anything dangerous and report it.
Warranty
Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion. If something fails in that time because of our workmanship, we'll fix it at our cost. Equipment such as air conditioners, inverters, batteries and EV chargers carries the manufacturer's warranty, and we'll help you claim. It doesn't cover misuse, storm or surge damage, or later work by others.
To claim, contact us (details below) with your invoice number and a description or photos of the problem. The benefits of this warranty are in addition to other rights and remedies you have under the law.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:
• to cancel your service contract with us; and
• to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.
Limits on our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can't be excluded. Subject to that, we aren't liable for loss that wasn't reasonably foreseeable, or that was caused by existing faults, others' work, or events outside our control. Where the law allows, for goods or services not ordinarily bought for personal, domestic or household use, our liability is limited to repairing or resupplying them, or paying the cost of doing so. We hold public liability insurance through BizCover.
Cancellations and rescheduling
Please give us at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. If you cancel within one hour of the booked time, or we can't get access when we arrive, we may charge a small callout fee plus reasonable travel costs. If you cancel after we've ordered special-order items such as air conditioners or batteries, you pay for them, less any supplier refund. If we need to reschedule because of weather or an emergency, we'll tell you as soon as possible, at no cost.
Photos
We take job photos for our records, compliance and insurance claims. We may also use them on our website and social media, with faces, house numbers and anything else identifying you or your address removed. If you'd rather we didn't, just tell us.

We collect and handle your personal information as set out in our Privacy Policy at newwaveservices.com.au/privacy-policy.
